Open conversation organized in collaboration with Toolbox IBA Berlin / Field trip of the Technische Univertität München Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 / 19 – 21 hrs Node Center: Waldemarstr. 37A, Berlin 10999.

Inhabiting Exhibitions is an open conversation between exhibition makers and architects reflecting on the intersections between exhibiting and dwelling.

The talk aims to draw from the experiences made in contemporary art curating to those made with the specific urban planning instrument: International Building Exhibition (IBA). Space, time, media, structure, access and scale of operation all have their impact on the formation of publics and the engagement with things that can be achieved by an exhibition. How do curators encourage exhibition visitors to dwell on the topics they have set into material dialogue? How can we inhabit a discussion? And how does actually living in a built (building) exhibition on architecture and urban planning encourage new, or different, forms of inhabiting the city?

Guests

Kristin Ring – Architect and Curator; Suitcase for Architecture

Perla Montelongo – Director of Node Center for Curatorial Studies

Christian v. Wissel – Architect, urban researcher; TU Munich, Goldsmiths
