Innovators’ Program Diary – Week 5September 22, 2015
This week was all about fieldwork, prototyping and testing. The theme for the week was ’Let’s get dirty!’ and that is exactly what it we did! At the beginning of the week, the innovators left the safety of their working spaces and went out into the world to observe places where people learn. What does it take for a good learning environment to be created? What works and what doesn’t? They looked at learning experiences of young and old and in many different places. Naturkundemuseum, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a language class, a flagship toy store, a yoga class and after school were some of the places where the innovators looked at learning broadly understood.
After the fieldwork they went back to the Node space and the prototyping began. The innovators split into two groups – one group working on a workshop and the other group working on an app. There was not much time for this phase, but the aim was exactly to ’get their hands dirty’, fail sooner than later and learn from mistakes early in the phase. To be able to get as much experience as possible out of the prototyping, at the end of the week they had visitors come to test and try the ideas. It was definitely a fun day with lots of laughter both for the visitors and the innovators and the week ended with successes, failures and lots of great feedback to continue working from.
