Description:

Node Center for Curatorial Studies is looking for dynamic, experienced and knowledgeable lecturers for their online course program. We are specifically looking for lecturers to propose courses related to:

  • Art history (eg. key moments in art in the last 50 years, current trends in art globally, introduction to the essentials of art history for curators working today)
  • Grant-writing, funding and sponsorship
  • Curatorial and artistic research techniques
  • Management and direction of galleries (sales, pricing, art fairs, administration etc.)
  • PR, press and communications in the art world

 

About:

Node Center is an organization focused on curatorial practice. It comes in two parts: an online platform with unique e-learning courses related to contemporary art and curating (courses in English and Spanish), and a research program based in Berlin.

Our online courses facilitate rich interaction through multimedia material, weekly video conferences and feedback from its lecturers. The courses last 4 weeks and include weekly video conferences (2 hours in duration) that allow participants to interact with each other in real-time through video, sound and chat tools.

 

Tasks:

In addition to writing the course content and giving your class  online over four weeks consisting of 2-hour long classes held once per week, lecturers are required to fulfill the following: 

  • Develop and write a concise course plan for the class to be used for promoting the course
  • Create PDF presentations to use both in the class and for students’ reference afterwards
  • Provide suggested readings and/or additional resources
  • Give and follow up on assignments for the class participants each week
  • Reply to class participants’ email questions or requests related to the course

 

Essential criteria:

  • Language: fluent in English
  • Expert knowledge of the contemporary art field and familiar with art audiences
  • Confident with technology and communicating online including creating presentations, adjusting file sizes, using new software etc.
  • Available to give classes from 7 – 9pm Central European Time (CET)
  • Engaging and able to generate dynamic conversations
  • Actively engaged in the art world and up to date on current events and trends
  • Organised, punctual and reliable
  • Dynamic, creative, experimental and enthusiastic
  • Reliable and strong internet access

 

Essential experience:

  • Degree in Art, Art History, Culture Studies, Curating or similar
  • At least five years professional experience working in art
  • Prior experience teaching participants 20 years and above
