Node is going MAD in Tokyo!November 26, 2015
Yes, but in a good way: MAD stands for Making Art Different. It’s one of Arts Initiative Tokyo – AIT’s educational programs, initiated in 2001. MAD is an independent contemporary art school in Tokyo and we will be facilitating a workshop with them on Saturday December 12th! Want to join?
I don’t know… what’s the workshop about?
We will start with a short presentation of Node Center and its recent research on art-thinking and education (12 Dec, 13hrs). Afterwards the hands-on workshop starts, here the details:
The Institute for Terranautical Explorations (12 Dec, 14:30 – 16:30 hrs)
This is a workshop aiming to discover fictional uses and alternative interpretations of art and artworks. We will travel to a fictional future where no knowledge of art exists. In this future, the Institute for Terranautical Exploration is in charge to discover what kind of purposes, uses or information do strange objects (artworks) carry with them.
The aim of the workshop is to put aside our preconceptions of art in order to analyze artworks from an unfamiliar and fresh perspective, discovering what kind of uses, purposes or information can art have besides the known ones.
The workshop will be held at the exhibition of the “Nissan Art Award 2015” in BankART, Yokohama, with Node Director -Perla Montelongo- leading participants through the exhibition as a basis for the workshop.
